Foreign Language Movie Night: Taiwan

Like anyone else, we love a good movie night. MPIRO would like to invite our Full Members to join us for lovely evening with a Chinese-language movie, bubble tea, and our guest attendee from the Melbourne Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
WHERE: University of Melbourne, Parkville Campus (details upon registration)
TIME: 6.30pm – 9.00pm AEDT
We are excited to present to you the movie Cape No.7/海角七號 (2008), a Taiwanese romantic musical drama film by Wei Te-sheng, with a special guest appearance from the Melbourne Tapei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO).
The story involves a forbidden love and a distant separation tied together by a string of penned letters. The film is in Taiwanese and Mandarin Chinese with significant lines in Japanese. Even without a strong promotional campaign, the film had become so popular in Taiwan that on November 1, 2008, it became the 2nd top-grossing film in the country’s cinematic history, behind James Cameron’s Titanic.
Our guests will have the opportunity to network with and ask questions about TECO team.
You must be a Full MPIRO Member to attend this event. If you are not a Full MPIRO Member yet, shoot us an email at admin@mpiro.org
Not in Melbourne? We’re sad you won’t be able to join us at this offline event. But this doesn’t mean you can’t get involved in social events! We run several different online/hybrid events, so it doesn’t matter where you are located.
If you are particularly interested in Taiwan-related affairs, we are running a poll for our cohort and would be very interested to hear what you have to say.
